Chelsea, here is what Courtois had to say about Antonio Conte

Although Chelsea are understandably disappointed at a run of just two wins in 10 games during 2018 so far, and in particular suffering successive three-goal defeats in the Premier League for the first time since 1995, it will not cost Conte his job. Tottenham are due at Stamford Bridge on 1 April.

Since the season started, it's clear to see there's something annoying the Italian and he looks increasingly frustrated, angered and most importantly, unhappy.

Conte's future with the troubled Premier League champions was cast into doubt on Monday after a dismal 4-1 defeat against Watford. He would perhaps be wondering if Michy Batshuayi - sent on loan to Borussia Dortmund and making an instant impact with two goals on his debut - could have made a difference.

The situation quickly disintegrated as Costa refused to train with the reserves, leaving Chelsea struggling to find a buyer.

"Are the players letting the coach down? No".

The loss of the Serb was felt even more keenly when his replacement, Tiemoue Bakayoko, has yet to live up to expectations. He was very non-commital when talking about Emerson Palmieri, the left back Chelsea signed from Roma last week. Cesc Fabregas is a creative midfielder, but not one to hold the fort in the absence of Kante and Matic. Who do Chelsea play next?

When asked about his position at the club, Conte told BBC Radio 5 live: "It is the same. In my life, I like to be a victor, and I'm a victor".

"I tried to warn everyone about the difficulty of our path, and the difficulty in the league, to find our place in the Champions League".

He was not wrong as several of his key targets ended up elsewhere before the season started. The next year, 2004-05 was the most successful in club history.

However, Conte also delivered some stinging criticism to his players, who he said "played with fear". Because of that, Conte has adapted training.

They also lost possession too often, with the main culprit being Bakayoko, who was shown two yellow cards in five minutes and dismissed on the half-hour mark after catching Richarlison.

Enrique has been rumoured to be the Blues' top candidate, to replace under-fire Antonio Conte. John Terry may have had limited on-field impact in Conte's first season, but the leadership he brought and team spirit he helped to foster are absent this term after his move to Aston Villa.

Chelsea suffered a second consecutive league loss at Watford on Monday and are fourth, 19 points off the pace.

As if falling out with one of last season's title-winning stars wasn't enough, Conte then went and did exactly the same a few weeks into the new season - Brazilian defensive lynchpin David Luiz the victim this time, dropped and frozen out following an argument with Conte about tactics.

Yet Conte has never seemed settled in England, with his family only joining him this year, and he seems unruffled by the prospect of leaving.
