Apple has said that it slowed batteries in order to lengthen the lifetime of its products, and that it would be replacing the batteries of all iPhone 6 and later devices if customers requested. The wait is about to get even longer for owners of the iPhone 6 Plus.
"If you suspect that the battery of your iPhone SE, 6, 6 Plus, 6s, 6s Plus, 7 or 7 Plus may need to be replaced, bring your device in to any Digicape store for a diagnosis, or contact the Digicape Service Centre to book an appointment time convenient to you", explains Mark Parsons, Technical Director at Digicape.
This makes sense in a way, since Apple would have supplies of its newer phones ready to go as compared to older models.
A source spoke to MacRumors saying third-party re-sellers are able to set their own prices for out-of-warranty parts and repairs meaning consumers could be paying more than $39 for a new battery.
