Oprah Winfrey 'actively considering' running for President

Hollywood Reporter critic Daniel Fienberg noted the similarity between Winfrey and President Donald Trump. "I also know that after years of watching The Oprah (Winfrey) Show you always have the right to change your mind".

Some operatives think she has what it takes to be a viable presidential candidate.

This is not the first time this suggestion has been made, nor is Oprah the first celebrity who has inspired that kind of talk (Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson has said he's "seriously considering" running).

"Oprah, don't do it" advised a New York Times editorial, calling it a "terrible idea" that would show how far celebrity and ratings have repudiated experience and expertise. I got a lot of things going, she's got a lot of things going. "Absolutely. But in terms of where she stands on a number of positions, I would find a number of problems with that", Sanders said. "The election of Donald Trump was a devastating setback for little girls", said Liz Purdy, who led Democrat Hillary Clinton's 2008 New Hampshire presidential primary campaign. Well they've readied her to run against Trump in 2020 and to fire that campaign up in about a year.

"I know her very well".

Again, this is another sign that Jones, who used to be a general opponent of everything and anything attached to either the government or conventional thought, has become less a catchall conspiracist than a freelance advocate for President Donald Trump (albeit a particularly unhinged one).

If the speculation is wishful thinking, Winfrey's fame and wealth, extraordinary personal story overcoming poverty, child sexual abuse and pregnancy to build a $2.8 billion fortune and Oscar-nominated acting career, the scales would definitely tilt in her favour. "But that would be something she would have to determine and lay out if she made a decision to run, and what that campaign would look like".

However, the increasingly surreal edge to the debate was only exacerbated on Tuesday afternoon when White House press secretary Sarah Sanders weighed in and referred mysteriously to Winfrey's "policies".

"But she'd occupy a very important space in the race that right now no one else could fill", Cutter said.

The recipient of the Cecil B. DeMille Award mentioned Taylor during her powerful acceptance speech at the Golden Globes Sunday - But who is she?

Jones said many Americans are concerned about growing hatred and intolerance and Winfrey could bring a "values-based front for inclusion and tolerance" to the country.

"CBS This Morning" host and best friend to Oprah Winfrey, Gayle King, commented on the current buzz about Winfrey's possible presidential ambitions Tuesday morning, muddying the waters rather than clarifying them. "It would be a pretty good ticket".
