An impending celestial event threatens life on Earth in Jack White's music video for "Connected By Love", one of two songs released today from his newly announced album Boarding House Reach. There's less of the thrill or the bite here that might be expected of a typical Jack White lead single - but perhaps that's the point. But what sets "Connected By Love" apart is its earnest in sentiment and overblown arrangements.
The video for "Connected By Love", which was directed by Pasqual Gutierrez, adds some dimension to the lyrics and couches the song in much more macro terms, showing a series of families and individuals struggling in an R.E.M. Along with the McCrarys and Evans, White's NY recording studio band included drummer Louis Cato, bassist Charlotte Kemp Muhl, synthesizer player DJ Harrison and percussionist Bobby Allende. Now, he's unveiled the first proper single from the album with "Connected By Love", as well as a second track called "Respect Commander".
White expertly pivots through it all - plus an eye-watering guitar solo - before stripping it down to a basic piano line and then bringing everything back in again for a climactic, if rather staid, finale.More news: Filipinos top Pornhub's 'most time spent' list again

White's last solo record was Lazaretto, released in 2014.
"Respect Commander" follows a vision.
