Gourmia Brings Smart Appliances with Google Assistant to CES

JBL announced the Link View, a smart speaker that comes with a touchscreen display and is powered by Google Assistant and is ready to take on Amazon's Echo Show.

On the show floor, it smoothly scrolled through demo applications popping up info in ways we're used to seeing on our phones or through Android Auto. HiSense, for example, unveiled three new lines of smart TVs, with one line being powered by Android TV, one line being powered by Roku, and another being powered by Alexa so no matter what digital assistant or smart platform you prefer, HiSense has you covered.

Whirlpool customers can use voice commands anywhere in the house through their digital assistants. There is no news yet on the projected future of the Google Assistant, but fans are expecting more information in the coming months. "Google has many more languages.so moving forward there are question marks about how long Amazon can sustain the growth".

But Apple & Google are embedding their tech into their own home-based smart assistants (Apple's release of its speaker-come-hub HomePod is slated for "early 2018").

The company might also eventually allow you to buy products and services through Assistant. Named Onboard, the technology by Amazon can also execute a few more orders when fully developed and deployed for field use.

Currently, Alexa is available on Google Mini, Google Home, ad Max. It's a JBL device, so you know those are going to sound fantastic, too. That would apparently put the Google Assistant at the heart of a smart home ecosystem, illustrating its close ties and integrations with other hardware from under the Alphabet umbrella like Nest thermostats and the Chromecast streaming adapter.

Industry watchers are struggling to keep up with all the different devices that Amazon has partnered with on Alexa, but it's clear the company has been busy making friends with manufacturers over the past year. According to a new report, the search giant's hoping to turn things around with a retail site that focuses on Google Assistant products. Alexa continued to have an edge over Assistant and other assistants this year at CES, and Google's show-held in a tent outdoors-got ruined by unexpected rain in Las Vegas.
