Coca-Cola Co. says it is adding a slimmer 12-ounce Diet Coke can, refreshing the logo and offering the 35-year-old drink in four new flavors: ginger lime, twisted mango, feisty cherry and zesty blood orange.
Diet Coke sales have fallen as more people switch to other low-calorie drinks, such as flavored fizzy water.
The Atlanta-based beverage giant is relaunching its classic Diet Coke formula - along with four new flavors - in taller, thinner cans.
During the product's development process, Acevedo's department spoke with more than 10,000 Americans and created over 30 test flavours, including Diet Coke with "tropical, citrus and even botanical notes". Ladenburg Thalmann Financial Services Inc. raised its position in shares of Coca-Cola Bottling Co Consolidated (NASDAQ:COKE) by 72.8% in the third quarter, according to its most recent Form 13F filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).
The company has unveiled a new design for the low-sugar drinks brand in the U.S. market, and introduced four new flavours.
Sommerville now says the design team have an opportunity to rethink such an iconic brand with the scale and reach of Diet Coke. "Millennials are now thirstier than ever for adventures and new experiences, and we want to be right by their side". The look gives the brand a more contemporary feel. They also still have their original Diet Coke flavor, but in a new can.
"We continue to believe and invest in Diet Coke because it's a great-tasting, zero-calorie beverage loved by millions". The brand's new design and flavors will be available first in the United States, followed by Canada in February.
