"We couldn't do what we do without this great community and our volunteers", Major Sherry Moore said.
Yoachum says her family wouldn't have Christmas without the help.
"We need to raise $22,000 in three days", Lt. McNeil said.
Cappy Moore, co-leader of the Williston Salvation Army, said that as of Monday, donations had hit $84,500, down from last year's total on that date of $116,500.
"We would either have to help everyone a little less or help fewer people", he said.
"We are slightly ahead of where we were past year which is fantastic news, but our campaign is one day shorter" Mac Kenzie said. They expect another 150 families, including more than 500 kids, to come on Thursday. "I didn't know how we were going to be able to afford Christmas".
This week the Salvation Army also handed out 441 turkey food baskets....800 hams...and 750 toys to needy families in the Grand Forks area. All families being helped are in need during the holidays.
She added that many local businesses, churches, the Tehachapi Unified School District, the City of Tehachapi, Tehachapi Recreation & Park District and other organizations and donors contributed to make this year's gifts possible.
It's all thanks to the Salvation Army's annual Angel Tree distribution.
"I'm really excited and very grateful". Collectively, The Salvation Army calls it "Chico Holidays Together", a community effort to give every family in need not just toys for under the Christmas tree, but a box full of food for a holiday dinner too.
"It didn't snow until later on in the year and that affects when everybody gets into Christmas", she said. A press conference will be held at 11 a.m.to announce where The Salvation Army is with regards to its campaign goal.
